A species of milkweed native to eastern North America. It is a perennial plant growing to 0.3 to 1 m tall, with clustered orange or yellow flowers. The leaves are spirally arranged, lanceolate, 5 to 12 cm long, and 2 to 3 cm broad.

Found in meadows, roadsides, and flower/butterfly gardens. Blooms from early summer to early autumn
