Common Names: Brown pelican
The smallest of the eight species of pelican, although it is a large bird in nearly every other regard. It's unusual and long/large bill makes this coastal bird distinguished. It is 42 to 54 inches in length, weighs from 6.1 to 12 lb and has a wingspan from 6.0 to 8.2 ft. Plumage is mostly brown with shades of grey and white.
A rare visitor to Connecticut, it is found in coastal waters.
