Lycosidae family

Common Names: Wolf spiders
Category: Insects
Sub-category: Spiders

This is a catch-all for spiders in the Lycosidae family, which can be hard to separate based on photo alone. They are robust and agile hunters with excellent eyesight. They live mostly in solitude and hunt alone, and do not spin webs. Some are opportunistic hunters pouncing upon prey as they find it or even chasing it over short distances. Wolf spiders carry their egg sacs by attaching them to their spinnerets.

Edible Notes: Not edible.
Warnings: Wolf spiders will inject venom if continually provoked. Symptoms of their venomous bite include swelling, mild pain, and itching.
