One of the largest dragonflies in Connecticut and in the United States. It's length can reach 8.6 cm. It is large, dark brown with green thoracic stripes, and narrow green abdominal rings and blue eyes.

Found near shaded ponds, streams, swamps, and temporary ponds, from June to September.
